Flexi-Shot survey tools

Flexi-Shot encompasses a group of a high-accuracy, electronic surveying instruments, all designed to meet the demands of wellbore data acquisition. Modular in design, they can be used for taking surveys or making orientations in either single-shot or multi-shot mode with any conventional type of non-magnetic running gear (including PeeWee).

  • Sing-shot survey or drift only measurement
  • Multi-shot survey or drift only measurement
  • Measure actual borehole temperature as well as probe temperature

Flexi-Shot Single-shot Survey Tool replaces existing photomechanical devices in the industry standard one-inch size. High-accuracy surveys are displayed on an LCD readout, or can be transferred to a handheld computer or PC.

  • No need for photographic film (eliminates operator error)content
  • Solid state sensor digital technology for high accuracy
  • Advanced inbuilt monel and motion sensor mean fewer mis-runs
  • Easy to use, and can be used with or without a computer
  • Small in size—just 1 3/4” O. D. with thermal shield
  • Cost savings realized in low-cost rental and reduced rig time
  • Survey range 0-180°

Flexi-Shot Multi-shot Survey Tool replaces existing systems in the industry standard one-inch size. The system produces high-accuracy surveys, with no need to develop film. Surveys are easily transferred to a handheld computer or PC for plotting and reporting.

  • No photographic film required (eliminates operator error)
  • Solid state sensor digital technology for high accuracy
  • Advanced inbuilt monel and motion sensor mean fewer mis-runs
  • Easy to use, and can be used with or without a computer
  • Small in size—just 1 3/4” O. D. with thermal shield
  • Cost savings realized in low-cost rental and reduced rig time
  • Survey range 0-180°

Flexi-Shot-EDI instruments provide direct LCD readout of survey data, system status and quality-checking parameters. Using industry-proven gravitational sensors, they surpass any other similar, commercially-available instruments. FLEXI-SHOT- EDI ™ brings unrivaled functionality and technical specifications to our industry.

Flexi-Shot-EDI is a unique, high-accuracy electronic drift indicator for use in near-vertical drilling applications. Able to be operated with any running gear (including PeeWee), it excels at taking surveys or making orientations. Equipped with a motion sensor, as well as a timer to reduce the risk of mis-runs, Flexi-Shot-EDI provides high-accuracy digital records of hole angle and temperature. Drift information can be displayed on the tool’s LCD readout when retrieved on surface, or the tool can be connected to a standard Windows™ computer and a survey downloaded using the Flexi-Shot™ software package to obtain hard copy records of surveys.

Flexi-Shot-EDI measures:

  • Inclination in degrees (hole drift angle in degrees from vertical)
  • Gravity Tool Face (roll orientation angle relative to high-side of the hole)
  • Voltage at the probe as provided by the AA battery pack
  • Temperature of the tool

Electronic Miniature Multi-shot Tool (EMMT)

EMMT provides high-accuracy, definitive survey information before the well is cased, in time to make any directional course corrections. EMMT is a cost-effective alternative to photomechanical wellbore survey tools, eliminating the need for film developing, while fitting in Peewee-size running gear. EMMT can be readily connected to any Windows-compatible computer. Using our Drillog™ survey and graphics software, survey output formats can be customized by the user. EMMT can also be used in conjunction with a handheld computer when a PC is not required.

  • Low-cost alternative to existing systems
  • Compatible with existing systems (including all running gear)
  • High reliability and reduced operating costs through the use of established sensor technology and service policy
  • Superior performance due to sensors and calibration
  • Modular hardware and software for ease of use and flexibility
  • Small size for slimhole and short radius applications
  • High temperature capability (can also be used with low cost thermal shields)
  • Built-in, system-level QA checking features and troubleshooting

Gyroflex Navigator Tool

This Northseeking rate gyro survey tool provides the ultimate in “gyro-flexibility.” It can be used in a variety of applications including orientation kick-off, gyro single-/multi-shot (memory based), and slimhole cased hole surveying.

The Gyroflex system consists of an instrument that can run on either an electric wireline connected to a surface power supply and PC, in memory mode on slick/braided line, or in drop mode. An optional remote rig floor readout is available for display of survey and drilling information as required. Under normal circumstances, the Gyroflex tool is run in a 1.75” pressure case/thermal shield to maintain temperature stability.

  • Field proven to be highly-reliable
  • Smallest Northseeking rate gyro available—eliminates the need for sighting
  • High accuracy in a small size (1.75” inside the combined pressure case/thermal shield)
  • Modular design for application flexibility
  • Advanced software calibration techniques
  • Easy-to-use Drillog™ application software interface

DrillogReal-Time Drilling and Survey Software
